4.1.4 General procedure for the synthesis of triflates (GP4)

General procedure: The phenol (15a-f or 16a-f, 1.0 equiv) and 2,4,6-collidin (4.0 equiv) were dissolved in CH2Cl2 and cooled to 0 °C. At this temperature, triflic anhydride was added dropwise. The solution was stirred at rt until TLC control revealed completion of the reaction. After dilution with Et2O, the mixture was washed twice with water, the organic layer was separated and the aqueous layer extracted with Et2O. The combined organic layers were washed several times with satd CuSO4 solution and dried over MgSO4. Evaporation of the solvent gave the crude product.
