MELILOTUS OFFICINALIS Chemical Properties,Uses,Production
Uses
melilot (Melilotus officinalis)(sweet clover; white clover) is credited with emollient, bactericidal, sedative, and virustatic properties. Traditionally, it was used on a couperose condition. Coumarin is melilot’s only important constituent. Its related compounds are hydrocoumaric (melilotic) acid, orthocoumaric acid, and melilotic anhydride (lactone), which is a fragrant oil. There are several species of this perennial herb. The whole herb is used for botanical purposes.
