Product Description
Purple-black scaly or platelet with metallic luster. It is brittle and the vapor is purple. Has a special irritating odor. Slightly soluble in water, solubility increases with temperature; insoluble in sulfuric acid; easily soluble in organic solvents; iodine is also easily soluble in chloride, bromide; more soluble in iodide solution; soluble in sulfur, ammonium and Alkali metal iodides, aluminum, tin, titanium and other metal iodides.
