Stir the mixture at 0°C for 30 minutes. Pour the reaction mixture into the water. Extract the mixture with methylene chloride. Wash the organic extracts with water and salt water. Dry crude oil on sodium sulfate. The organic extract was concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain 4-hydroxypiperidin-1-ethyl formate.
