Menatetrenone is a naturally occurring vitamin that contains the basic structure of menadione and has anti-hemorrhagic effects. It can be synthesised of menaquinone monoacetate, butyl ether and geranyl through a condensation reaction, and then alcohol solution and oxidation.

Reaction Conditions:

Take 237g of the light yellow oily substance (formula 7) obtained above and add 2500ml of acetonitrile, stir to dissolve and add 1000ml of water. After adding, use an ice water bath to cool to below 10, control the temperature and add 1375g of 40% concentration dropwise Aqueous solution of cerium ammonium nitrate (CAN), the reaction is completed at room temperature for 1 hour after dripping, and the mixture is extracted twice with 2000 ml of isopropyl ether at room temperature, and the combined organic layer is washed once with 1000 ml of water, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and concentrated to obtain a brownish yellow oil 221.9 g. The obtained oil was refined by adding isopropanol to obtain 201.4 g of yellow solid of vitamin K2 (MK-4) with a yield of 90.6%.
