Calcium selanate has the molecular formula of
CaSeO4 and the molecular weight of 201.0598 g/mol. It
can be prepared by reacting sodium selenate with
calcium chloride in solution:
CaCl2(aq)+ Na2SeO4(aq) ? CaSeO4+ 2NaCl(aq)
The result is calcium selenate dihydrate CaSe-
O4·2H2O whose CAS number is 7790-74-1. It is slightly
soluble in water at 9.22 g/100 ml at 20°C.
Evaporating the solution serves to form white, monoclinic
crystals whose molecular weight is 219.07 g/mol,
with a density of 2.75 g/cm3. | [Uses]
