Motherwort Herb P.E is a brown active substance extracted from the fresh or dry aerial parts of the Lamiaceae plant Leonurus japonicus Houtt., in which Stachydrine hydrochloride is the main active ingredient. | [Uses]
Motherwort Herb P.E can also be used for anti-inflammatory, whitening, irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, lochia, postpartum blood stasis and abdominal pain, nephritis and edema, dysuria, sore swelling and poisoning, traumatic injury. | [Side effects]
Motherwort Herb P.E is very low in toxicity. The LD50 of intravenous injection to mice was (572.2±37.2) mg/kg. Motherwort ointment could induce abortion in pregnant rabbits, but had no effect on body temperature, respiration and heart rate. If more than 30g of fenugreek is taken at a time, poisoning can occur within 4 to 6 hours. Symptoms are: general weakness, soreness, immobility of lower limbs, chest tightness; severe sweating and collapse. |
