| [Uses]
Hexadienylidene acetone is mainly used in the citrusy type, but also in the so-called "aldehydic" base, which is normally a composition of alifatic aldehydes, delicately green notes, fruity notes, and a rich, but delicate floral note, often Muguet. This type base has been used conventionally in modifications of very many successful luxury perfumes, including several great names.
| [Preparation]
Hexadienylidene acetone is produced by condensation of Sorbic aldehyde and Acetone (Claisen condensation).
