carone is a colorless mobile liquid. B.P. 210℃. Sp.Gr. 0.96. Almost insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils. Warm-herbaceous, yet refreshing odor. Very volatile (poor tenacity).
[Uses]

carone is occasionally used in the “reconstruction” of essential oils.
[Preparation]

From Carvone via Dihy drocarvone, reacted with HBr followed by treatment with alcoholic Potassium hydroxide.
