Isolated from the marine brown alga, Ecklonia cava, it exhibits antioxidant activity. It has a role as a metabolite, an antioxidant and an EC 3.1.1.3 (triacylglycerol lipase) inhibitor. It is a phlorotannin and an aromatic ether. It is functionally related to an eckol and a phloroglucinol. |
