Hazard Information | Back Directory | [Uses]
Tert-Butyl (1-(2-aminoethyl)cyclopropyl)carbamate, also known as carbamic acid, [1-(cyclopropylamino)ethyl]-, 1,1-dimethylethyl ester, is belongs to the class of carbamates, which are derivatives of carbamic acid. Carbamates have a wide range of applications, including as pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides. | [Preparation]
Tert-butyl 1-[2-(1,3-dioxo-1,3-dihydro-2H-isoindol-2-yl)ethyl]cyclopropylcarbamate (4.57g, 13.83 mmol) was added to ethanol (80 ml). Followed by adding 3.36ml (69.16 mmol) of hydrazine hydrate and the resulting mixture was heated under reflux for 16h. The mixture was filtered and washed with diethyl ether. Finally, the filtrate was evaporated to dryness to give 2.3g of tert-Butyl (1-(2-aminoethyl)cyclopropyl)carbamate as an orange oil.
| [Origin]
Tert-Butyl (1-(2-aminoethyl)cyclopropyl)carbamate (TAC) was first synthesized by researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles in 2006. The synthesis of TAC involved the reaction of tert-butyl carbamate with cyclopropylamine. |
