Milder variations of New Mown Hay may be obtained by the use of this material in place of Coumarin or Acetanisole or Anisaldehyde, all harsher than Methyldihydrocoumarin. For particulady “creamy-floral” effects, sometimes highly desirable and difficult to achieve, this material offers good possibilities.
Synthese
6-Methyl-dihydrocoumarin is prepared by hydrogenation of 6-Methylcoumarin
(see that monograph).
