[S-(E)]-2-amino-4-(2-aminoethoxy)-3-butenoic acid is produced by Streptomyces spp. and was isolated and purified by Abbott. It is marketed by Valent Biosciences for control of fruit ripening as it inhibits the production of endogenous ethylene.
