Uses
3-HYDROXYMETHYL-2 -OCTANONE finds some use in soap perfumes as a blender and fortifier for Lavender and other herbaceous fragrance types.
Synthesis
3-Hydroxymethyl-2-octanone is produced by condensation of Methyl hexyl ketone with Formaldehyde, followed by hydrogenation.
