Chemical Properties
Needle crystals. Melting point 244 ° C (decomposition). Soluble in hot water, insoluble in alcohol. Its free radical S-methylisothiourea [2986-19-8] cannot be isolated; its hydrochloride salt [53114-57-1] has a melting point of 59-60 °C.
Uses
S-Methylisothiourea sulfate is an intermediate in organic synthesis.
