Description
A further base isolated from the roots of Rauwolfia tetraphylla. The alkaloid is laevorotatory having [α]25D - 73° (CHC13 ) or - 35° (pyridine). It yields a crystalline nitrate, m.p. 263-5°C and on reduction with LiAlH4 gives tetra phyllinol, m.p. 212-6° C.
