Description

The fruit of Alstonia venenata yield two closely related alkaloids which are separated chromatographically. This base crystallizes as colourless rods from MeOH and is strongly laevorotatory with a specific rotation of α] D - 427° (CHC13). The ultraviolet spectrum in EtOH consists of absorption maxima at 220,295 and 326 nm.
