Description
The electrolytic oxidation of cobalt(II) acetate in glacial acetic acid containing 2% of water gives an apple-green solid which is probably a hydroxy bridged cobalt(III) acetate, although earlier authors had described it as the trimeric acetate Co3(OCOCH3)9. Cobalt(III) acetate is believed to be present in dilute acetic acid solutions of cobalt(II) acetate which have been oxidized with ozone.
