Description

A second alkaloid of this name was isolated from Artabotyris suaveolens Blume. This base is strongly dextrorotatory with [α]15D + 164° (c I. 22, CHCI3). Treat_x0002_ment with nascent CH2N2 yields artabotrine methyl ether as a colourless syrup; [α]16D + 182.2° (c 2.9, CHCI3), giving a methiodide, m.p. 254-5°C. It gives a purple colour with FeCI3.
