Definition

ChEBI: (5R)-5-hydroxy-7-(4''-hydroxy-3''-methoxyphenyl)-1-phenyl-3-heptanone is a beta-hydroxy ketone that is (5R)-5-hydroxyheptan-3-one substituted by a phenyl group at position 1 and a 4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl moiety at position 7. Isolated from Alpinia officinarum, it exhibits antiviral activity against influenza virus. It has a role as an EC 3.2.1.18 (exo-alpha-sialidase) inhibitor and a plant metabolite. It is a beta-hydroxy ketone and a member of guaiacols.
