5-phenylpentan-2-one is a colorless to pale yellowish oily liquid, solidifying in the cold. Very slightly soluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils. Powerful, floral-green, sweet and tenacious odor.
Uses
5-phenylpentan-2-one has been used in several well known specialties, mostly of the sweet-floral type.
Preparation
5-phenylpentan-2-one is prepared by condensation of Phenylacetaldehyde with Acetone.
