Description

Tungsten(III) chloride, which exists as the hexamer W6Cl18, is a cluster compound. It is a brown solid, formed by chlorination of tungsten(II) chloride. Containing 12 doubly bridging chloride ligands, the cluster takes on a structure related to the corresponding chlorides of niobium and tantalum.
