Methyl 2,2-dimethyl-6-methylene-1-cyclohexanecarboxylate is a colorless liquid with
a rosemary and damascone-like odor. It is used to enhance herbal, aromatic notes
and fruity aspects in fragrances.
The compound can be prepared by deconjugation of methyl ??-cyclogeraniate
with butyllithium and trichloromethylsilane.
