black crystal(s) with metallic luster; formed by melting stoichiometric amounts of As and Se in nitrogen atmospheric; used in glass manufacturing [MER06]
Uses
manufacture of glass.
Safety Profile
Confirmed human carcinogen. When heated to decomposition it emits fumes of As and Se. Incompatible with oxidizing materials. When heated to decomposition it emits htghly toxic fumes of Se and arsenic. See ARSENIC COMPOUNDS and SELENIUM COMPOUNDS.
