Biological Activity
The gene ANKRD46 (Ankyrin repe at domain-containing protein 46) encodes an ankyrin repe at domain-containing adaptor protein. The ankyrins facilitate the attachment of membrane proteins to the cytoskeleton. This protein is found to be down-regulated in breast cancer cells, which leads to up-regulation of miR-21 and an increase in proliferation and migration.
