AGBL2 (ATP/GTP binding protein-like 2) gene encodes a cytoplasmic metallocarboxypeptidase th at is involved in the deglutamylation of target proteins. RARRES1 (retinoic acid receptor responder 1), a retinoic acid–induced tumor suppressor, interacts with AGBL2 and regulates the α-tubulin tyrosination cycle. It is important in the regulation of microtubule dynamics. They play a role in cancer and may serve as a potential therapeutic target.
