2,6-Dicyanonaphthalene [31656-49-2], naphthalene-2,6-dicarboxylic acid dinitrile, Mr 178.18, mp 294 – 297℃, can be obtained by ammoxidation of 2,6-dimethylnaphthalene on sodium vanadate bronzes doped with Fe2O3. It is used for the production of 2,6-bis (aminomethyl)naphthalene, an intermediate for dyes.
