sodium laureth sulfate is an emulsifier and versatile surfactant used in personal care products, especially for its cleansing and foaming properties. It enjoys good skin compatibility and is very often found in shower foams, foam bath products, and liquid soaps. It exhibits a mild to moderate skin irritation index in irritation tests, and has been found to be less irritating than sodium lauryl sulfate.
