chaulmoogra oil (Taraktogenos kurzii) is a soothing and antiinflammatory oil. It is considered by some to be healing, with good application in acne cases. It contains chaulmoogric acid and palmitic acid. Its fatty oil constituent has been found to yield glycerol, a very small quantity of phytosterol, and a mixture of fatty acids. Chaulmoogra oil can be irritating and can have an unpleasant odor. It is obtained from the seeds of Taraktogenos kurzii.
