Use

Clomiphene Citrate is used mainly in female infertility due to anovulation (e.g. due to polycystic ovary syndrome) to induce ovulation. CC has also been employed for ovarian stimulation in ovulating women, mainly for idiopathic (unexplained) infertility and often combined with IUI. The rationale is presumably that CC overcomes a subtle defect in ovulatory function or increases the number of mature follicles so increasing the likelihood of pregnancy. Here the success rate has been, understandably, notably less than in anovulatory women.
