Description | Isolated from Croton balsamifera Jacq. and C. j1avens, this alkaloid crystallizes
from AcOEt with 1 mole of solvent which is difficult to remove. It has [α] 16
D-107° (EtOH) and the ultraviolet spectrum in has absorption maxima at
241 (shoulder) and 275 mfJ.. The base gives a deep blue colour with FeCL3 . The
structure has been determined from chemical degradation and the NMR and
