| MCTR2 Usage And Synthesis |
Description | Maresin conjugates in tissue regeneration 2 (MCTR2) is a specialized pro-resolving mediator (SPM) synthesized from docosahexaenoic acid (DHA; ) in macrophages at the site of inflammation. DHA is oxidized to maresin 1 (MaR1; ), which is converted to MCTR1 by glutathione S-transferase Mu 4 or leukotriene C4 synthase then to MCTR2 by γ-glutamyl transferase. MCTR2 accelerates tissue regeneration in planaria (1 and 100 nM). Pretreatment with MCTR2 prior to E. coli administration reduces neutrophil infiltration, shortens the inflammatory resolution period, and increases phagocytosis of E. coli by macrophages. When administered at a dose of 100 ng 12h post E. coli infection in a mouse model of peritonitis, MCTR2 selectively reduced the amount of the eicosanoids PGD2 and PGF2α in the exudate. | Uses | S-?[(1R,?2E,?4E,?6Z,?9Z)?-?12-Carboxy-?1-?[(1S,?3Z,?6Z)?-?1-?hydroxy-?3,?6-?nonadien-?1-?yl]?-?2,?4,?6,?9-?dodecatetraen-?1-?yl]?-?L-?cysteinyl-glycine is synthesized from omega-3 essential fatty acids and utilized by macrophages in molecular pathways related to tissue regeneration and inflammation. | Definition | ChEBI: (13R)-S-cysteinylglycinyl-(14S)-hydroxy-(4Z,7Z,9E,11E,16Z,19Z)-docosahexaenoic acid is a docosanoid that is (14S)-hydroxy-(4Z,7Z,9E,11E,16Z,19Z)-docosahexaenoic acid in which a cysteinylglycinyl group is attached at position 13R via a sulfide linkage. It has a role as a human metabolite. It is a docosanoid, an organic sulfide, a secondary alcohol, a dicarboxylic acid and a dipeptide. It is a conjugate acid of a (13R)-glycinylcystein-S-yl-(14S)-hydroxy-(4Z,7Z,9E,11E,16Z,19Z)-docosahexaenoate(1-). |
