UTRN is an autosomal homologue of dystrophin. The protein contains an amino-terminal actin-binding domain, a central rod domain, a cysteine-rich domain and a carboxyl-terminal domain. UTRN is widely expressed, with high expression in non-skeletal muscle tissues including lung, intestine, embryonic neural tube, sensory ganglia, tendons and ossifying cartilages.
