DescriptionA quaternary alkaloid obtained from Erythrina arborescens, this base is isolated as the chloride which forms brown crystals when purified by recrystallization from MeOH-Me2CO. This salt decomposes without melting above 260°C. It gives an ultraviolet spectrum in EtOH with absorption maxima at 222, 284 and 292-4 nm with a shoulder at 230 nm.
