| Biological Activity | GTF2F2 (General transcription factor IIF, polypeptide 2, 30kDa) is a α2β2 heteromeric general transcription initiation factor with RNA polymerase II binding capacity. It is a member of the "winged" helix-turn-helix family of eukaryotic transcription factors. It is majorly involved in the various transcriptional processes including initiation, elongation, and recycling of transcription. Its ATP-dependent DNA helicase motif helps to melt or untwist the DNA strand at the transcriptional initiation point. During transcription, it directly binds to the RNA polymerase II subunit 5 (RPB5) to modulate the initiation and/or elongation of mRNA synthesis. |
