It has also been used as a cell culture media supplement to control bacterial contamination. | | Biochem/physiol Actions | Mode of Action: This product acts in three ways. Penicillin inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis. Streptomycin inhibits prokaryote protein synthesis by preventing the transition from initiation complex to chain-elongating ribosome, causing miscoding. Neomycin inhibits initiation and elongation during protein synthesis. |
