DescriptionPresent in the bark of Rauwolfia vomitora, this alkaloid has been shown to be the N-oxide of Reserpine (q.v.). It is best crystallized from a mixture of Me2CO and hexane and is laevorotatory with [α]25D - 100° (CHCI3). The ultraviolet spectrum exhibits three rather broad absorption maxima at 218, 267-271 and 295-296mμ
