Description | Dehalococcoides ethenogenes
had a very complex nutrition, requiring acetate, vitamin
B12, and extracts of mixed cultures containing it for its
growth. | Uses | Of many substrates tested, Dehalococcoides ethenogenes used only H2 as an
electron donor and only chloroethenes or 1,2-dichlorothane
(DCA), which it reduces primarily to ethene, as electron
acceptors. Conversion of VC to ethene is the rate-limiting
step, and subsequent results (32) showed that it cannot
grow using VC or trans-DCE as electron acceptors. |
