| TETRAPHYLLICINE Usage And Synthesis |
Description | This alkaloid from Rauwolfia serpentina is separated from the preceding base by column chromatography on alumina and yields colourless crystals from EtOH. The ultraviolet spectrum shows two absorption maxima at 250 and 293 mil. No methoxyl or methylenedioxy groups are present. The alkaloid is readily soluble in MeOH or EtOH, sparingly so in CHC13,C6H620. | References | Bose., J. Ind. Chem. Soc., 31,691 (1954) Bose., Naturwiss., 42, 71 (1955) |
