ANTI-NICOTINIC ACETYLCHOLINE RECEPTOR, BETA2 SUBUNIT Usage And Synthesis
UsesMonoclonal Anti-Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptor (β2 Subunit) antibody produced in rat has been used in immunoprecipitation.
General DescriptionCholinergic receptor nicotinic β2 subunit (CHRNB2), a subunit of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor, associates with the α4 subunit and forms pentameric channels. The β2 subunit forms the pore of these channels and is expressed in the central nervous system. The gene encoding this protein is localized on human chromosome 1q21.3.
Biochem/physiol ActionsCholinergic receptor nicotinic β2 subunit (CHRNB2) has been associated with neuroprotection and nicotine addiction. It is linked to high affinity binding in relation with dopamine release. The protein may be a target for therapeutics and anesthetics. Mutation in the CHRNB2 gene has been linked to autosomal dominant frontal lobe epilepsy.
