DescriptionIsolated from Stephania hernandifolia, this base forms colourless crystals from CHCl3 and has [α]32D + 93° (c 0.55, MeOH). It gives an ultraviolet spectrum in EtOH which exhibits two absorption maxima at 226 and 283 mil. The base contains three methoxyl groups, one phenolic and one non-phenolic hydroxyl group and an imino group. The N-methyl derivative is crystalline with m.p. 125-8°C.
