tubifoline Usage And Synthesis
DescriptionThis alkaloid from the leaf extract of Pleiocarpa pycnantha (K. Schum) Stapf. var. tubicina (Stapf.) Pichon is the dehydro derivative of the preceding base. It yields colourless crystals from pantane which may be further purified by sublima_x0002_tion. It is strongly laevorotatory with [α]23D - 342° (c0.549, CHCI3). The methiodide forms colourless crystals from Et20-Me2CO, m.p. 25l-3°C (dec.). As before, the structure has been confirmed by synthesis of the optically active form.
