| ANTI-GX/Z ALPHA (GX/ZALPHA) Basic information |
| ANTI-GX/Z ALPHA (GX/ZALPHA) Chemical Properties |
| ANTI-GX/Z ALPHA (GX/ZALPHA) Usage And Synthesis |
Uses | Anti-Gαx/z antibody produced in rabbit is suitable for western blot analysis at a working dilution of 1:100-1:200 using plasma membrane fractions. | General Description | G-proteins are membrane associated heterotrimeric proteins that are comprised of α-, β-, and γ-subunits. These proteins play a key role in signal transduction pathways that regulate cell′s response to several hormones, neuromodulators and ligands. The αz subunit is myristoylated near the N-terminus. | Biochem/physiol Actions | The gene GNAZ (guanine nucleotide binding protein (G protein), αz polypeptide) encodes an α subunit of guanine nucleotide binding proteins. The α-subunit contains a guanine-binding domain that is in its inactive state when it is occupied by GDP. Upon activation, GDP is replaced with GTP, causing the dissociation of the α-subunit from the βγ-subunit complex. This enables the Gα-GTP complex to bind to and regulate specific signaling pathways. GTP is then hydrolyzed, allowing for re-association of the α-subunit with the βγ-subunit complex. When coupled to phospholipase C, the α subunits may have a role in pertussis toxin-insensitive pathways. |
