Description | A noraporphine alkaloid present in the bark of Hernandia ovigera L., this base
exists in two crystal modifications (a) as slender, colourless needles, m.p. 176-
7°C; [α]D + 248° (EtOH) and (b) as colourless, rectangular plates, m.p. 99-100°C. The ultraviolet spectrum has absorption maxima at 225, 271 and 314 mil.
The hydrochloride has m.p. 245-7°C (dec.). The base contains a phenolic
hydroxyl group, a methoxyl group, a methylenedioxy group and an imino group
in the molecule. The O-methyl ether is amorphous but the O,N-dimethyl deriva_x0002_tive is crystalline with m.p. 129-130°C. | References | Cava et al., Tetrahedron Lett., 1577 (1966) |
