The combination of sodium nitrate and [BMIM][HSO4] can be used as a nitrating agent for the selective nitration of phenols to afford its corresponding nitro derivatives. [BMIM][HSO4] can also be used as catalyst for the preparation of 1,8-dioxo-octahydroxanthenes. |
