White or almost white crystalline powder, odorless, bitter taste. Extremely slightly soluble in water, insoluble in ethanol, chloroform and other organic solvents, soluble in mineral acid or sodium hydroxide solution. It is unstable in neutral or alkaline aqueous solution, and weak alkaline reaction occurs in saturated aqueous solution.

1.As an emergency cure to restore cardiac function: commonly used in anaphylactic shock, drowning, infectious diseases, drug poisoning, surgical accidents and heart block caused by weak or sudden cardiac arrest. In case of complete cardiac arrest, intracardiac injection, effective artificial respiration and cardiac massage can be used. 2. Topical use as local hemostatic: local use of 1:50000-1:100,000 solution can make local blood vessels constrict and stop the bleeding of nasal mucosa, uterus, gingiva or surgical site.
