Alpha-Tetralone

Colorless oily liquid, industrial product with light yellow, light color gradually darkens to dark red, slightly similar to camphor smell, when heated mint smell. Insoluble in water, soluble in a variety of organic solvents. Melting point 8 ℃. Boiling point 255 ~ 257℃. The relative density was 1.098 (15.6℃). Refractive index: 1.5712 (15.45 ℃), 1.5693(20℃).

It is mainly used for dehydrogenation to produce methyl naphthol. The pharmaceutical industry is used in the synthesis of 18-methylnorethindrone. It can also be used as a solvent and softener for plastics, and its chloride has insecticidal and repellent effects.
