1,3-Bis(diphenylphosphino)propane NEW

1, 3-bis (diphenylphosphine) propane (dppp) is a diphosphine ligand in coordination chemistry.

Diphosphine can be prepared by reacting lithium diphenylphosphine with 1, 3-dichloropropane:

2 Ph2PLi + C3H6Cl2 → Ph2PC3H6PPh2 + 2 LiCl

Diphosphine is a prerequisite for the complex dichloride (1, 3-bis (diphenylphosphine) propane) nickel, which is prepared by mixing an equivalent ligand with nickel dichloride hexahydrate. The nickel complex can be used as catalyst for Kumada coupling reaction.

dppp is also used to complex palladium divalent catalysts to copolymerize carbon monoxide with ethylene to obtain polyketones.
