Salinomycin is a polyether antibiotic from the group of ionophores. It exerts anticoccidial effect against all species known as causative agents of coccidiosis in poultry (Eimeria acervulina, E. maxima, E. necatrix, E. mivati, E. tenella, E. brunetti) as well as in the other farm animals (E. meleagridis, E. meleagrimitis, E. bovis, etc.). It is active against Gram-positive microorganisms, some anaerobes and Serpulina (Treponema) hyodysenteriae.
