Isonicotinic acid is also known as pyridine -4- formic acid. White needle crystals. No smell, can sublimate. The molecular weight is 123.11. Melting point 319ºC. Slightly soluble in cold water, soluble in hot water, insoluble in alcohol, benzene and ether. It is an amphoteric compound, which is soluble in acid and alkali. Soluble in hot water and ethanol, slightly soluble in cold water and ether. Stable to heat and oxidation.
